The dense fog that has been blanketing North India has led to another tragic road accident. That happened on Tuesday morning on the Delhi-Agra Expressway in Mathura.
The result was a massive multi-vehicle pile-up involving seven buses and three cars. Several vehicles also caught fire after the collision, which is the most terrifying part.

The Toll and The Cause

Casualties: At least four people were killed and 25 others were injured. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar confirmed the details, noting that the four victims were killed instantly in the pile-up.

Cause: Both the SSP and the District Magistrate (DM) of Mathura, Chandra Prakash Singh, directly attributed the collision to “poor visibility” and “dense fog.” As the SSP noted, the fog was still thick at the scene even as rescue operations were concluding.
Rescue and Relief Operations
Emergency services were immediately dispatched, which is important.

Emergency Response: More than 12 fire tenders and over 14 ambulances were deployed immediately to the scene.

Injured Status: All 25 injured people have been admitted to C.H.C. Baldev and the District Hospital. The DM confirmed that none of them are seriously injured and they are all reported to be out of danger.

Passenger Transport: Authorities are arranging for the surviving, uninjured passengers to be transported to their homes via government vehicles.
The immediate priority, according to DM Singh, remains focused on relief work and ensuring the injured receive the best possible treatment, with the investigation into the exact cause of the pile-up to follow later.

This is not an isolated incident. The Mathura collision follows a similar, deadly multi-vehicle accident just one day prior.
