The Mahindra Thar 3-door is caught in a bit of a “will they, won’t they” loop right now. As of today, December 24, 2025, we’re seeing test mules all over the place, but the situation is a bit messy because Mahindra just dropped a “mild update” in October 2025.1
The thing is, that October update was mostly a placeholder. It brought in a 10.25-inch screen and a rear camera, but it kept the old halogen face. Now, the real 2026 Facelift is being spotted with the “full Roxx treatment.” Or nothing. Let’s be real, if you’re buying a Thar today, you might be looking at the “old” design by this time next year. Those too.

The “Baby Roxx” Upgrades (Expected Mid-Late 2026)
The spy shots reveal that Mahindra is basically shrinking the Thar Roxx aesthetic to fit the 3-door chassis.2
-
The Face: It’s ditching the old halogen bulbs for circular LED projector headlamps and those signature C-shaped DRLs.3 The grille is moving to the six-slat segmented design.4
-
The Tech: While the current 2025 model has the big screen, the 2026 facelift is rumored to add the 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display and—here’s the kicker—Level 2 ADAS.5
-
The Comfort: Expect ventilated seats and an auto-dimming IRVM, features that were previously “Roxx-only.”6

The “Wait or Buy” Dilemma
And here’s the kicker: under the hood, nothing is changing. You’re still getting the 2.2L mHawk diesel and the 2.0L mStallion petrol.7
It’s an ongoing situation where the 3-door remains the “purist” choice for serious off-roading because of the shorter wheelbase. But by mid-2026, it won’t look like the “budget” sibling anymore—it’ll look like a premium, short-wheelbase Roxx. If you can handle the halogen look, dealerships are currently offering decent year-end clearance on the 2025 stock.
