The thing is, the issue stems from a specific ingredient—arachidonic acid (ARA) oil—provided by a European supplier. This oil was found to have traces of cereulide, a nasty toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria. Or nothing. Let’s be real, when it comes to baby formula, “precautionary” is the only way to go. The Toxin (Cereulide): This is the scary part. Unlike most bacteria, this toxin is heat-stable. The thing is, even if you use boiling water to prep the bottle, the toxin stays active.
