This will happen because the company has introduced a new fee for customers and named it ‘Marketplace Fee’. This charge will be applicable on every type of online shopping. This charge will be shown separately in the bill in addition to the price of the goods purchased by the user. Amazon says that this fee will help in running their online services.

Charge will be levied on all customers

According to the report of Moneycontrol, Amazon will levy a marketplace charge of Rs 5 on every order. This charge will be shown separately on the receipt of the order. This charge of Rs 5 will be applicable to all customers, whether they are Prime members or not. However, this charge will not be levied on some things.

  • This marketplace fee will not be charged on certain transactions.
  • Amazon Pay – If you make bill payments or recharges with Amazon Pay, then this charge will not be levied.
  • Processing or exchange fee – This new fee will not be charged on orders which already have a processing or exchange fee.
  • Gift card – There will be no fee for buying a gift card.
  • Cash on Delivery (COD) – Even if you choose the cash on delivery option, you will not have to pay this fee.

Cancellation and refund policy

If you cancel or return an order, this charge of Rs 5 will not be refunded. However, if you cancel the order before it is shipped, the fee will be refunded.

What to do to avoid this charge?

If you want to avoid this new charge of Amazon, then choose the option of Cash on Delivery (COD) while ordering. Also, if you want to cancel an order, try to cancel it before it is shipped so that you don’t have to pay the Rs 5 charge.
