The scam represents a growing trend of “social engineering” frauds that leverage financial desperation and social stigma to silence victims.

The fraudsters used a tiered psychological approach to drain victims’ bank accounts.

| Hook | Post ads for “Pregnant Jobs” on Facebook/WhatsApp. | Clicking the link/Contacting via WhatsApp. |
| Lure | Share photos of models; promise ₹10L (or ₹5L if unsuccessful). | Selection of a “client” from photos. |
| Trust | Claim a “meeting” is scheduled at a local luxury hotel. | Payment of Registration Fees (₹799–₹2,000). |
| Drain | Demand “security deposits,” “medical charges,” or “hotel tax.” | Repeated UPI transfers in small installments. |
| Exit | Block the victim once they refuse to pay more. | Realization of the fraud (often too late). |
