Chaos Goes Viral: Foreigner Climbs IndiGo Counter

The drama unfolded at Mumbai airport, one of the worst-hit hubs. Videos show an unnamed foreign woman, reportedly traveling for medical treatment, totally losing her temper. You can see her grabbing the service-window frame. She climbed right up there. She happened. And then the viral videos followed.

She was shouting, asking for food, asking for basic help. The ground staff, who are probably running on zero sleep, were trying to get her down and calm her down.

And here’s the kicker about the desperation: CISF, the security force, had to step in after airline staff reportedly denied the passenger access to her own luggage.

The Human Cost of The Meltdown

The foreign passenger climbing the counter is one kind of chaos. The other kind is just quiet, heartbreaking loss:

  • The Hackathon Team: In Ahmedabad, a woman broke down in tears. Her flight delay meant she and her team missed a major hackathon event in Guwahati. Seven months of hard work. Wasted. That opportunity, those too, gone. They’re just returning home now.

This is what happens when an airline meltdown, caused by underestimating the required number of pilots for the new FDTL rest rules, continues for five days straight. The airline controls about two-thirds of the domestic traffic, so when IndiGo fails, the entire country’s travel system fails.

 The Numbers Keep Bleeding

Even with Delhi operations supposedly stabilizing, the cancellations are still massive across the board:

  • Mumbai: 109 flights cancelled.

  • Bengaluru: Over 120 flights cancelled.

  • Delhi: 86 flights cancelled.

  • Hyderabad: 69 cancellations.

  • Pune: 42 cancellations.

The government has since put the FDTL order on hold—a move aimed at getting crews flying again—and has ordered a high-level inquiry. They expect stability within three days. But until then, scenes of frustration, anger, and climbing counters are going to remain a very real and ongoing situation at every major terminal.

End…
