EPFO Changed Rules! Now on the death of PF account holder, the nominee will not have to make rounds to get the money.

EPFO Rule Change- Due to Aadhaar related rules, there was a delay in payment of money to the nominee of the EPF member. Now EPFO has changed the rules for quick settlement of death claims.

Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has simplified the rules for death claim of PF account holder. Due to change in the rules, now the nominee of the PF account holder will get the money easily. EPFO has issued a circular giving this information. Now according to the new rule, if a PF account holder dies and his PF account is not linked to Aadhaar or the information given in the Aadhaar card does not match with the information given with the PF account, then also that account holder The amount will be paid to the nominee.

EPFO has taken the change in the rules related to death claim in view of the difficulties being faced by the nominees in getting the money. Before the change in the rules, there was difficulty in taking death claim if there was any mistake in the Aadhaar details or if the Aadhaar number became inactive due to technical problem. The officials had to put in a lot of effort to match the Aadhaar details of the deceased member. Due to this, it took a lot of time to get the claim and the nominee had to run around a lot.

The money will be given after physical verification.

EPFO said that after someone’s death, the information given in Aadhaar cannot be corrected. Therefore, now the money will be paid to the nominee after physical verification. The authenticity of the nominee or family member entitled to the money will be thoroughly investigated. Special care has been taken by EPFO to prevent any kind of fraud. However, for this, permission of the regional officer will be mandatory.

After the seal of the regional officer, the PF amount will be paid to the nominee. This rule will be applicable in case the information given on the basis of PF account holder is incorrect. If the member’s information with EPFO UAN is incorrect, then another procedure will have to be followed for payment of money.

If there is no nominee, the legal heir will get the money

If the PF account holder has not given the name of the nominee in the information given and he dies, then the PF money will be paid to the legal heir of the deceased person. The heir will also have to provide his Aadhaar card along with other documents.
