A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Jaipur on the night of Friday, January 9, 2026, when a speeding luxury Audi car ploughed into roadside food stalls and pedestrians near Kharbas Circle in the Patrakar Colony area.1 The accident left one person dead and at least 16 others injured.

1. The Incident: High-Speed Racing & Chaos

According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the luxury car was allegedly racing with another vehicle on Vande Matram Road when the driver lost control.

  • Impact: The Audi struck a road divider at approximately 120 km/h, lost control, and rampaged through roadside food stalls (handcarts) over a 30-metre stretch.

  • The Aftermath: The car hit over 10 stalls and finally came to a halt after crashing into a tree about 100 metres away.5 Another car in the vicinity overturned due to the massive impact.

  • Crowd Presence: More than 50 people were present at the popular food spot when the tragedy struck.


2. Victims and Casualties

  • Deceased: Ramesh Bairwa, a resident of Bhilwara, who worked as a helper at one of the food stalls, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

  • Injured: Out of the 16 injured, four remain in critical condition and were referred to SMS Hospital (Sawai Man Singh Hospital).9 Others are receiving treatment at Jaipuria Hospital.

3. Details of the Accused

The driver has been identified as Dinesh Rinwa, a local businessman.
