OnePlus just dropped the 15R in India. It’s officially the first phone globally to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. That’s a massive jump in raw power. And then the battery specs hit the table—7,400 mAh.
The thing is, OnePlus is clearly pivoting hard toward the gaming crowd. What draws people there is the display. It’s a 165Hz AMOLED with a 3200Hz touch sampling rate. That’s basically instant feedback for your thumbs. Let’s be real, most people won’t even notice that kind of speed unless they’re playing Battlegrounds Mobile India at a pro level. Speaking of which, they even partnered with GodLike Esports.

The Internal Specs
It’s a monster on paper. Here’s how the hardware stacks up:
-
The Brain: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. It’s apparently 36% faster on the CPU side than the last one.
-
The Power: 7,400 mAh battery. That is a lot of juice. And then they gave it 80W SUPERVOOC charging. It’s not the absolute fastest charging they’ve ever done, but with a battery that big, you probably won’t need to plug in as often.
-
The Memory: LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1. Those too.
-
The Cooling: A 360-degree Cryo Velocity system. It’s supposed to keep that Gen 5 chip from melting your hand during a long session.

The Price Tag
They aren’t exactly “budget” anymore, but the 15R stays under that ₹50k psychological barrier for the base model.
-
₹47,999 for the 12GB + 256GB version.
-
₹52,999 for the 12GB + 512GB version.
The cameras seem almost like an afterthought compared to the gaming focus, but you’re still getting a 50MP main sensor and a 32MP selfie cam. It runs on OxygenOS 16. Pre-orders are live right now on Amazon and the OnePlus store. It feels like a lot of phone for the money, or nothing.
