Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: February 25 Launch & Major Camera Hardware Upgrades Leaked

Samsung is done playing it safe. As of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the whispers around the Galaxy S26 Ultra have turned into a roar, with multiple sources—including the usually “100% accurate” Evan Blass—pinning the Galaxy Unpacked event for February 25, 2026.

The thing is, Samsung isn’t just swapping a chip this time. They’re overhauling the one thing that defines the “Ultra” brand: the camera. Or nothing. Let’s be real, after years of the same design, seeing a dual-layer camera island on a leaked dummy unit feels like a massive shift. Those too.

The “Ultra Camera” Log: Field Notes

It’s an ongoing situation where the hardware is finally catching up to the AI hype.

  • The f/1.4 Revolution: The 200MP sensor is back, but it’s getting a massive aperture upgrade. The thing is, moving from f/1.7 to f/1.4 means the lens can gobble up way more light. It’s the difference between a grainy night shot and something that actually looks professional.

  • The “Fold” Influence: Leaked dummy units from OnLeaks show a design pivot. Instead of individual rings, the main lenses are grouped into a “pill-shaped” island, similar to the Z Fold 7. The thing is, this island is reportedly 4.5mm thick—nearly double the last gen. It’s a chunky trade-off for better optics.

  • Death of the Yellow Tint: One of the most annoying “Samsung-isms” has been the unnatural warmth in skin tones. The thing is, new anti-reflective coatings and a 24MP default shooting mode (borrowed from Apple’s playbook) are designed to fix white balance and purple fringing once and for all.

  • The 12MP Telephoto: The 3x zoom is finally moving from 10MP to 12MP, and it’s getting dedicated HDR support. And then there’s the periscope lens, which might get a wider f/2.9 aperture to keep zoom shots clean when the sun goes down.

S26 Ultra: The Camera Evolution

Sensor Spec (Expected) The “Why”
Main 200MP (f/1.4) Better low-light detail; less noise.
3x Telephoto 12MP (New Sensor) Higher resolution for mid-range portraits.
5x Periscope 50MP (f/2.9 or f/3.4) Cleaner long-range zoom in shadows.
Ultrawide 50MP Consistency with the main sensor’s color.

And Here’s the Kicker…

Samsung is moving the S Pen! The thing is, dummy units show the stylus silo has moved to the extreme corner to make room for the larger camera internals. And then there’s the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5—if the 2nm rumors hold true, this phone will have the raw power to process those 24MP shots with zero shutter lag.

It’s an ongoing situation where Samsung is clearly tired of being told the iPhone 17 Pro Max has “better skin tones.” February 25 is the day we see if the hardware can finally back up the talk.
