Here comes the most lucrative deal for mobile phone lovers. The Jio Phone exchange offer, also known as the Monsoon Hungama offer, has been opened for all retail partners. As per the offer, mobile users can pay a sum of INR 501, and switch to a Jio Phone. What’s more interesting is that the amount of Rs. 501 is refundable once 3 years is completed from the date of purchase. According to the official communication, the interested customer has to pay Rs. 594 for availing unlimited data and voice calls for six months. Therefore, an user needs to pay a total of Rs. 1,095 for availing this offer.
All you need to know about the offer
The recharge amount of Rs. 594 includes six repeated recharges of Rs. 99. Jio has recently launched a new Jio Phone recharge coupon. This Rs. 99 power pack offers its users unlimited voice calls, daily 0.5GB of 4G data, as well as 300 SMSs, valid 28 days. Users need to deposit Rs. 594 in advance and forget about recharging every month. Instead, the telecom giant will ensure the timely recharge of the same, equally distributed over the next 6 months. Each of those automated recharges would individually cost INR 99, which ends up to be INR 594, for 6 months. Additionally, Jio users would also receive a bonus of 6GB data voucher worth Rupees 101. This will provide the user data benefits of 90GB for the next 6 months.
Different plans available for JIO phone users
Presently, there are two Jio Phone exchange plans available. One with Rs. 49 and the other for Rs. 153. The Rs. 49 plan can be considered as a trial plan. This particular plan provides 1 GB monthly data. On the other hand, the Rs. 153 plan provides its subscribers with 1.5 GB data every day. Clearly, the 153 plan sounds interesting for those who have an higher appetite for internet consumption.
Eligibility criteria for availing Jio phone exchange offer
To elaborate on the publicly launched Jio Phone exchange offer, the phone exchange can be executed at any authorised Jio outlet. The exchange would be valid with any old 2G/ 3G/ 4G phone, but your existing phone must be less than 3 years old. You must also ensure that the old phone is in working condition. Besides, you must also provide a charger, compatible with the device. Handing over the phone to any authorised Jio dealer would make you eligible for the deal. However, you might not be able to avail this offer in case your old phone doesn’t meet the criteria.
Can you use your existing SIM card?
You should also get a new Jio SIM card with your new Jio Phone. However, if you wish to port your existing number into Jio, such an option is also available. But keep in mind, if you wish to use your previous Telecom service provider in your new Jio phone, that would not be possible. Besides, you would be paying for data and voice calls on the Jio platform. Therefore, it is advised to either port your existing connection to Jio or else, get hold of a brand new Jio SIM card.
Why buy more data, when you can use less?
Jio’s introduction to the telecom space has certainly changed the scenario from day 1. Now everyone has ample of data to use every day. However, there are many users who do not require too much data. They seek lesser data plans to fit their needs. As they use less data, they also expect the price of their data pack to be less than usual. Keeping their needs in mind, Jio has introduced the ‘Rs. 99’ plan, which comes with unlimited free voice calls, along with 0.5GB data each day as well as 300 SMS, valid for 28 days. Such a plan is helpful for those who wants to spend minimum of their hard earned money on internet and calls. As you already know, there are no additional roaming costs associated with Jio network. Neither do Jio charges it’s users for long distance phone calls. Keeping these features in mind, we believe the introduction of this latest Jio phone exchange offer is all set to benefit the middle class population.
JIO on its way of acquiring 100 million users
Now most people might be wondering about the reason why Jio has suddenly reduced their service costs. Afterall, it doesn’t happen too often that a leading Telecom company like Reliance reduces the price range of its phones, that too for such a lucrative price tag. The initial cost of a Jio Phone has been declined from INR 1,500 to INR 501, which is a big reduction fir sure. Such an event is putting spotlight on the RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s vision of universal digitisation of our nation. Even at the Annual Meeting of the Reliance Group, Mr. Ambani mentioned his purpose behind making Jio phones available for such a low cost. It is clear that Jio’s purpose is to aid the acceleration of India’s digital revolution. The extreme affordability of owning a Jio Phone is a perfect step towards achieving their goal. With the cheap price offerings getting affective, theoretically citizen of India has the opportunity of accessing the Internet, no matter where he live or what income stream he has. With such an offer rolling into the market, enjoying digital life is a dream come true. Besides, Jio’s wide network across the length and breadth of the country along with extremely strong pan India retail presence will make it easier for the company to acquire more customers. It is also to be understood that such a lucrative deal such as the the Jio Phone exchange offer was just dream. Availability of such an offer is all set to attract potential consumers, given that they would be entitled to do many features for less than their children’s school fees. Now that enough buzz has been created around the launch of their most awaited product offering, the Jio team envisions of acquiring 100 million users within the shortest time span possible.

Jio Monsoon Hungama: [Everything you Need to know about the New JioPhone 2]
After conquering the mobile carrier industry, reliance is now set to take on new challenges to keep up with its staggering growth; The Ambanis have now targeted the feature phone market as a potential profit-making alternative. With the launch of JioPhone 2, this statement was made more explicit.
We might see small feature phone makers packing their bags and leaving India as Jio looks to disrupt the market with its 2,999 phone which brings never before seen tech on a feature phone. Does that seem tempting?
The Ambani’s dropped a bombshell on the same day, and you can now own a JioPhone 2 for just 501 Rupees if you trade in your old JioPhone.
Now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty:
The JioPhone 2 features a full qwerty keypad with an integrated voice assistant and NFC. Its runs on KAI OS and now features 512 MB ram and four gigs of internal storage. Plenty to keep a feature phone ticking right?
It comes with VOLTE and GPS. It is equipped with front and back cameras. The 2.4-inch display is backed up by a 2000Mah cell which is more than enough to keep it running throughout the day.
The primary sim slot will be locked for the Jio sim, while the secondary sim slot can be paired up with any carrier.
JioPhone 2 will natively support applications like Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp so that you don’t miss out on all the social media.
As of today, a new update will enable google maps on the Jio phone which will add to the feature list to JioPhone 2.
The Monsoon Hungama offer
The monsoon Hungama offer will please the more than 25 million users of the 1st Jio phone. Old JioPhone users can trade in their phones and get the brand new JioPhone 2 for just 501 Rupees.
As announced by Mukesh Ambani old users will be able to trade in their phone from July 21 onwards. This offer will result in a substantial amount of sales of the new phone.
The monsoon Hungama is set to further drive feature phone manufacturers like Nokia, Samsung, and other small phone manufacturers out of the country fearing sales drops. JioPhone currently leads the feature phone segment with a market share of 35% followed by Samsung and Nokia.
Network and Data plans for JioPhone 2
Apart from the regular Jio plans, which are adored by the Indian youth. The JioPhone will get special treats from the network provider.
Mukesh Ambani specifically quoted the “500 million feature phone users,” and he talked about the lack of internet access to them.
The phone is targeted explicitly at these users who will benefit directly from getting the Jio phone.
Currently, there are two exclusive plans for the JioPhone
- The rs49 plan which provides 1GB of data for 28 days, which is more than enough to use messaging apps.
- Rs153, plan which offers 42GB of data for 28 days, for users who like to use JioTV and other content consumption apps.
Apart from the Monsoon Hungama, normal user’s will be able to get a JioPhone 2 from August 15 for an introductory price of 2,999 Rupees.
There is no compelling zero price offer for the JioPhone 2 like the old JioPhone. The price is justified by the unique features and aggressive tariff plans than no other feature phone user will have.
The Technology behind the JioPhone 2
While most of the internal hardware remain undisclosed apart from the number on ram, storage, and battery, KaiOS handles the software side.
KaiOS platform is also used in all the of the throwback Nokia feature phones. This will mean global software support as well as a promise that the platform will not die anytime soon.
The versatile operating system is gathering support from developer communities and as the commercial viability increase software providers will try to integrate their native app with the platform.
The platform is optimized to work on non-touch phones specifically. It has a build in app store with a growing app collection, but for the JioPhone the Jio Store will handle that part.
The platform supports 4G, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS and HTML 5 open standard.
Although updates will be dependent on carriers, we will see regular updates for the software as the company behind the platform has committed software support for phones running the OS.
Availability and Variants
Although the phone is said to roll out on August 15, Jio has not mentioned any retail partners nor collaboration with any e-commerce platforms. Users can get the phone from Jio outlets.
As far as color combos go, you can get the phone in only one color- BLACK.
Because of the enormous demand, the limited initial stock is expected to be depleted in the first few weeks.
Jio’s rise to power.
Jio started its commercial operations on July 1.
Since then there has been no looking back as the carrier’s aggressive data packs attracted millions of smartphone users to change their carrier networks.
The profit margins of all the competition dropped significantly, and they are let fight it out in a highly competitive market.
The growth factor is immense, but it comes as no surprise. Jio has invested Rs 2,50,000 crores in digital infrastructure and fiber optics technology. With this technology backing, Jio now has 215 million users and plans to reach the 500 million mark within the 2years.
Jio’s marketing team has been going all out for promotions, and it is even targeting remote villages as it tries to bring internet to the masses.
With the scale of operations and the ambitions that Mr. Ambani has, the road ahead looks pretty bad for its competitors in India. Along with the JioPhone 2, it also introduced the Jio GigaFiber wireless broadband tech and a set-top box.
So with that Jio will have its feet firmly planted in the broadband as well home entertainment industry.
There is a certain amount of tensions among the competitors as their shares fell rapidly after Ambani’s announcement.
Step By Step Guide on how to Port your Number to Jio
Reliance Jio has disrupted the telecom market since its launch It had started with providing free calls and ultra-low cost 4G data to consumers across India. Free voice calling and lucrative data prices are sure to tempt many users to make the switch to Jio networks. Instead of getting a new number, you can opt for mobile number portability (MNP) to shift to the Reliance Jio network without changing your phone number. And this is the main reason for many customers switching to Jio for their amazing benefits. So here is the step by step guide on how to port your existing number to Jio.
- First up, you need to send a text message to your current operator requesting for a port out. The message PORT should be sent to 1900. In return, you will receive a Unique Porting Code from 1901 with 15 days validity from your current carrier.
- Head to any Reliance Mobile Store or retailer and fill up the Customer Application Form (CAF) where you’ll also fill in the porting code. Don’t forget to carry your Aadhaar Card and a photograph. Jio will activate the connection through eKYC process. Once activated, this SIM will use the same phone number you already had, and your old SIM will be deactivated.
- The Reliance Jio SIM could take up to 7 days to activate, and a fee of Rs. 19 will be charged. During porting, your number might be dead for about two hours (sometime between 10pm and 5am) before the new Reliance Jio SIM gets activated. Once your current SIM starts showing “No Service”, it’s likely time to put in your new Reliance Jio SIM.
- Once ported, the Jio SIM should be activated, and remember you cannot use MNP to go back to your earlier operator or someone else for at least 90 days.
- After the connection is through, you must dial 1977 from your Jio SIM for verification. You will be asked to insert the last four digits of your identity proof.

Reliance Jio comes up with an e-commerce app for the retail merchants
Reliance Jio just launched their first app for India’s e-commerce segment to serve Indian Kirana.
Reliance is the strongest organized force in the majorly unorganized Indian retail landscape. It owns 7,573 stores throughout India including Reliance Fresh, Reliance Digital, Reliance Trends, and Jio stores. It now aims to reach out to millions of Indian customers by bringing products closer to the customer.
This app will bridge the gap between Reliance’s retail business and digital services business. It will be a one stop destination for all the offline merchants to get their hands on their products. The report adds that Reliance Jio is piloting the service with 5,000 kirana stores in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. And in a year’s time it has planned to spread all across the country.
The app, when fully ready, will enable key features including option to file GST by inputting invoices, file claims, manage inventory and order for a pick-and-drop to a customer’s doorstep. Through the app, Reliance will also connect these shopkeepers to retail distributors to offer special discounts. Often, these offers will be store-specific and will help the shopkeepers to clear out excess stock. Additionally, Reliance will also connect these small-scale retailers with third-party transporters and logistics providers to help them deliver goods not sourced from Reliance Retail.
The coupons for these tokenized discounts and sale will be available on the Jio Money app and offered as a click-through message on the main application
The app will enable merchants to integrate with Reliance’s e-commerce platform and power their inventory, logistics, payments, and supply chain requirements, reports Factor Daily. Importantly, merchants can also buy inventory from the Reliance wholesale arm.
Currently, Reliance has about 7,500 stores and 50 warehouses and it plans to use them for fulfilling demand created by both channels – offline as well as online.
Reliance Jio users will also receive promotional offers for special discounts in the app, which they can redeem at nearby stores. This way, Reliance will also be able to attract more subscribers to its network by offering them indirect benefits.
Reliance wants to enter e-commerce market by catering to key segments like electronics, apparel, home and furnishing, baby, beauty and personal care, books among others. Reliance Retail will serve as supplier to these kirana stores further bringing it closer to untapped customers.
With its new service, Jio does not want consumers to shop online or on its website but the goal is to enable consumers to use any of Jio’s platform.

After creating a disrupt in the telecom sector with its free offers and amazingly competitive tariffs, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd plans to create its own cyptocurrency, which they are planning to call it as ‘JioCoin’.

Though there are multiple applications of blockchain (for the company). This young team would work on various blockchain products,” in inside source confirmed on condition of anonymity.
For your knowledge, Blockchain is a digital ledger for storing data including, but not only limited to, financial transactions. In a nutshell , blockchain decentralizes information without it being copied. Through blockchain the information is held on through a shared database which can be accessed on a real-time basis. This database is stored on cloud and not on physical servers, which makes it easy to store unlimited data.
The most popular application of the technology has unquestionably been cryptocurrency, and Reliance Jio also plans to create its own version of it which will be called as JioCoin.
“One (application) is cryptocurrency. We can deploy smart contracts. It can be used in supply chain management logistics. Loyalty points could altogether be based on JioCoin,” the person confirmed adding that all of this was “in proposal stage”.
“Reliance Jio also aspires to get into Internet of Things (IoT). And this Blockchain technology would come in handy there,” the person said.
IoT is a network of devices such as smartphones, home appliances, wearable devices and vehicles, connected to the internet, which enables these objects to connect and exchange data. Industry experts have also suggested that blockchain could potentially address security risks to IoT as it provides a shield against data tampering by labelling each block of data.
Significantly, the Indian government has cautioned everyone against cryptocurrencies, mentioning that virtual currencies were not backed by assets and posed risks such as money laundering. In the first week of January 2018, finance minister Arun Jaitley told the Rajya Sabha that the government was still studying the issue.
“A committee under the chairmanship of secretary, department of economic affairs, is deliberating over all issues related to cryptocurrencies to propose specific actions to be taken,” Jaitley said, adding that cryptocurrencies will not be a legal tender for government.
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have come under the scanner of governments across the world as their elevating prices attracted speculators and unsophisticated retail investors. This week, Bitcoin dropped as much as 12% to $12,801, its lowest since Christmas day, as South Korea’s justice minister re-proposed a ban on local cryptocurrency exchanges, Bloomberg reported.
