A deeply shocking and tragic incident has emerged from Telangana’s Sangareddy district. That happened. A second-year engineering student was allegedly beaten to death by his girlfriend’s family after they called him to their house under the guise of discussing his marriage to their daughter.

The victim, Jyothi Sravan Sai, was a 20-year-old B.Tech student (Computer Science and Engineering) at St Peter’s Engineering College. He had been in a relationship with 19-year-old Sreeja, a resident of Beeramguda.

The Deadly Attack

The thing is, the relationship was heavily opposed by Sreeja’s family, who had reportedly warned Sravan multiple times in the past.

  • The Setup: On the day of the incident, Sreeja’s parents called Sravan to their house. The assumption was that they were finally going to discuss the couple’s marriage proposal, or nothing.

  • The Violence: Upon his arrival, the family, including Sreeja’s mother, allegedly attacked him suddenly and brutally.

  • The Weapon: They used a cricket bat to beat him severely. He sustained severe head injuries, a fractured leg, and fractured ribs.

Sravan was rushed to a private hospital in Kukatpally. And then he was sadly declared dead.

Police Investigation

The Ameenpur Police have registered a murder case and have begun a comprehensive investigation.

  • Evidence: The police have recovered the cricket bat used in the crime and have sent the body for post-mortem.

  • The Motive: The immediate focus is on the exact motive behind the attack—which strongly points toward an honor killing due to their opposition to the relationship—and whether any other family members were involved in the assault.

The violent rejection of the relationship has led to this shocking and brutal outcome. It’s an ongoing investigation.
