According to Dr. Shravan Kumar, the superintendent of Gandhi hospital, the 39-year-old who attacked the doctor had been admitted at the hospital three days ago. The assault took place between 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. His elder brother, believed to be around 49 years old, had died due to complications after he was admitted in a critical condition in the first place.

The assault on the doctor created a tense situation at Gandhi hospital, which prompted Hyderabad city police commissioner Anjani Kumar to reach there to get the situation under control. Kumar suggested having only two entry points into the hospital, and to not allow anyone except patients into the main building. Moreover, additional security from the city police is also expected after the incident. A case was registered against the 39-year-old.
