7th Pay Commission: The government has given a big gift to the employees on the new year. A four percent increase in their Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief was announced on Friday. This will lead to a big increase in the salary of the employees.

Salary hike will be applicable from July 1
In fact, the Odisha government on Friday announced a four per cent increase in DA and DR of state employees and pensioners. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, this increase will be applicable from July 1, 2022. After the latest revision, now DA and DR have become 38 percent of the basic pay.

Salary increased for the second time in 2022
This is the second hike in DA this year. The state government had increased DA and DR by three percent in September 2022 for its employees and pensioners.

Tripura government had also increased DA
Earlier recently, the Tripura government had also increased the dearness allowance of its employees and dearness relief for pensioners. According to media reports, the Tripura government had recently increased DA and DR by 12 percent. Now the dearness allowance of the employees there has increased to 20 percent.

Expectation of increase in dearness allowance of central employees
At the same time, central employees are currently getting 38 percent dearness allowance. There are chances of increase in DA again in January. If media reports are to be believed then there can be an increase of 3 to 5 percent in DA. In such a situation, the dearness allowance of central employees can be up to 43 percent.

Know why dearness allowance is given
Explain that dearness allowance is given by the government to deal with rising inflation and to maintain the standard of living of the employees. It is available on the basis of basic salary of the employees. Dearness Allowance is reviewed twice a year in January and July.
