IndiGo Flight Cancellations Today: 67 More Flights Grounded as Fog Window Opens

IndiGo’s holiday season is officially a mess. As of today, Friday, December 26, 2025, the airline has just scrapped another 67 flights across the country, blaming a “forecast” of bad weather.

The thing is, “forecasted weather” is starting to sound like a default setting for them. Or nothing. Let’s be real, after the massive December meltdown where they had to cancel thousands of flights due to poor pilot rostering, the DGCA has them on a very tight leash. The government already slashed their daily flight limit by 10% (about 214 flights a day), meaning they’re capped at 1,930 flights right now. Those too.

The “Fog Window” Reality

We are now officially in the DGCA Fog Window (Dec 10 to Feb 10).

  • The Rules: Airlines must use CAT-III-B compliant planes and specifically trained pilots for low-visibility landings (under 50m).

  • The Problem: IndiGo is claiming “forecasted” fog at airports like Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Varanasi, and Dehradun to pre-emptively cancel flights.

  • The Result: If you’re flying out of Bangalore (BLR) today, check your phone. The airline issued a specific advisory this morning warning that the “pea soup” fog there is trashing the schedule.

Indigo’s “Gesture of Care”: The ₹10,000 Voucher

And here’s the kicker: starting today, December 26, IndiGo is supposed to begin reaching out to passengers who were “severely stranded” during the massive Dec 3–5 disruptions.

  • The Deal: You get a ₹10,000 travel voucher (valid for 12 months).

  • The Catch: This is only for those peak disruption days. If your flight was cancelled yesterday or today due to “weather,” you’re likely only getting a standard refund or a free rebooking.

  • The Process: They’ll contact you directly if you booked through their site. If you used MakeMyTrip or Cleartrip, they’re still “coordinating” data. Expect a dedicated portal to go live on January 1, 2026 for those who haven’t been contacted.

The Investigation

It’s an ongoing situation where the DGCA’s four-member probe panel was supposed to submit its “root cause” report yesterday. They got a tiny extension to finish crunching the data, so we should see the official verdict—and likely some heavy fines—by the end of this week.
