Big news has come for about 10 lakh bank employees of the country. IBA-Indian Banking Association and the union have agreed on 5 days working. It has been agreed upon to increase the salary by 17%. Will be applicable for next 5 years from 1.11.2022.

IBA CEO Sunil Kumar Mehta told that MoU has been signed between the two parties in BPT. Now it will be sent to the government for final approval. At present, bank employees get leave every Sunday and second-fourth Saturday. Holidays are available according to the festivals of each state. The list of holidays is prepared by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). However, online services remain operational even on holidays.

This demand had gained momentum since the government implemented the rule of 5 days working in Life Insurance Corporation of India. An agreement has been reached between the Management (IBA) and the Bank Unions (UFBU).

The Finance Ministry has no objection to this demand of two days leave and five working days a week in banks. That is why it is expected to get approval from the government soon. Indian Banking Association had sent a proposal to the government regarding this demand. According to the proposal, working time for bank employees will increase by 40 minutes daily.

Notification may be issued with the Wage Board Revision. Notification can be issued under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
