Giving information on behalf of the employee organizations, it was told that their main demands include 5 working days in a week and pension related issues. If the bank employees go on strike on June 27, then the bank will not work for three consecutive days, because 25 is a bank holiday due to the fourth Saturday and 26 being a Sunday. Bank employees have given a warning to go on strike on the third day on Monday.

9 bank unions decide to strike

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), a joint body of nine bank unions including All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and National Organization of Bank Workers (NOBW) decided to go on strike. People may also have to face problems due to the impact of the functioning of the bank.

7 lakh workers will join the strike

AIBEA General Secretary CH Venkatachalam said after the UFBU meeting that their demands include amendment in the pension scheme for all pensioners and abolition of National Pension Scheme (NPS) and old pension scheme for all bank employees.
