In the coming times, banks across the country will open only 5 days a week. In fact, it is being considered to approve the two-day weekly holiday proposal of bank employees. The United Forum of Bank Employees (UFBE) and the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) have made progress in their talks, agreeing in principle on the proposal of working only 5 days a week.

Changes in timings as well: According to the Times of India report, S Nagarajan, general secretary of the All India Bank Officers Association, said that according to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, the government will have to declare every Saturday as a holiday. RBI should also accept the scheme. According to Nagarajan, the employees will work an extra 40 minutes per day in a 5-day workday. The working hours of the bank employees will be from 9:45 am to 5:30 pm.

However, a large section of customers continue to depend on bank branches. To change this situation, banks are constantly emphasizing on self-service by installing cash deposit machines and passbook printing devices.
