Apple has issued a new warning for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch users around the world. The Indian government has issued an alert this week through its security agency for users in the country who are using Apple devices.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has described it as high risk in its May 20 security bulletin. This security alert is informing people to be cautious about potential attacks and they are also being asked to update their software immediately.
CERT-In’s warning focuses on security vulnerabilities that could affect users of iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and even Apple TV.
Several flaws have been identified in Apple products. The alert states that a remote attacker can obtain sensitive information to enter the system, bypass security restrictions, and exploit some of its vulnerabilities.
- Apple iOS versions before 16.7.8.
- Apple iPadOS versions before 16.7.8.
- Apple iOS and iPadOS versions before 17.5. Apple
- macOS Monterey versions before 12.7.5.
- Apple macOS Ventura versions before 13.6.7.
- Apple macOS Sonoma versions before 14.5.
- Apple watchOS versions before 10.5.
- Apple Safari versions before 17.5.
- Apple tvOS versions before 17.5.
Looking at the versions listed, all major Apple devices are affected and millions of devices are still running on the versions listed here and people use them. iOS 17.5 is the latest version which means that all iPhone users who updated earlier this week also need to be cautious of potential attacks.
