Report of Annual Medical Examination has been made mandatory for ICAS officers. At the same time, without this report, the APAR will be considered incomplete.

It is mandatory to submit the report of Annual Medical Examination
Under this, it has been made mandatory for all officers above 40 years to submit the report of Annual Medical Examination. On the other hand, if the report is not submitted in APR, the APAR report will be considered incomplete. Along with this, its effect will be seen on the promotion and increment of the employees.

DoPT issued order

The order issued states that the scheme of Annual Medical Examination for Group ‘A’ officers of Central Civil Services posts above the age of 40 years has been approved by the DoPT in its OM no. 21011/1/2009-Estt. (a) Dated February 2012 was amended. It was mentioned therein that a summary of the medical report in the prescribed proforma prepared by the medical authority (Annexure III of the OM) is to be attached with the APAR of the concerned officer.

The order stated that it has been observed that annual medical examination reports are being received from very few ICAS officers. As per the order issued, from the year 2023-24 onwards, all ICAS officers of the age of 40 years and above will have to undergo annual medical examination to ensure compliance of regular annual medical examination.

The APAR format in Sparrow will be modified by the ICAS officers to be attached. Meanwhile, all ICAS officers in the age group of 40 years and above are advised to undergo annual medical examination during the year 2023-24 as per the DoPT scheme mentioned above. At the same time, major action can be taken if it is not followed.
