There is a big update for pensioners / family pensioners. His pension amount has been increased. In fact, with the increase in his dearness relief, his pension amount will also increase. Along with this, they will be paid arrears of 3 months. For this order has been issued by DoPPW.

7th pay commission, DR Hike, Pensioners Pension Hike: There is a big update for the family pensioners including lakhs of pensioners of the country. Their dearness relief has been increased by 4 percent by the government.

With this, their dearness relief has increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. For this order has been issued by DoPPW. Under the issued order, the benefit of family pensioners including pensioners of different categories will be given. Along with this, their pension amount will also increase.

Issued orders

It is directed to refer to the Department’s OM No. 42/07/2022-P&PW(D) dated 08.10.2022 and to state that the President is pleased to decide that dearness allowance to Central Government pensioners Relief is acceptable. Basic pension/family pension (including additional pension/family pension) to pensioners/family pensioners will be enhanced from the existing rate of 38% to 42% with effect from 01.01.2023. Orders have been issued to increase it by 4 percent.

These rates of DR will be applicable to the following categories:-

  • Central Government including civilian Central Government pensioners/family pensioners, pensioners absorbed in PSUs/autonomous bodies will be entitled to this. In respect of which orders have been issued for restoration of full pension after the expiry of the commutation period of 15 years vide this Department’s Office Memorandum No. 4/34/2002-P&PW(D)Vol.II dated 23.06.2017.
  • Armed Forces Pensioners/Family Pensioners and Civilian Pensioners/Family Pensioners paid from Defense Service Estimates.
  • All India Service Pensioners/Family Pensioners.
  • Railway Pensioners/Family Pensioners.
  • Pensioners who are getting provisional pension.
  • As per this Department’s O.M. No. 23/3/2008-P&PW(B) dated 11.09.2017, the pensioners/family pensioners of Burma civil pensioners/family pensioners and Government pensioners displaced from Burma/Pakistan will get the benefit of DR.

Guidelines issued

  • Where the payment of dearness relief involves a fraction of a rupee, it shall be rounded off to the next higher rupee.
  • Other provisions governing the grant of DR in respect of employed family pensioners and redeployed Central Government pensioners have been laid down in Rule 52 of the CCS(Pension) Rules, 2021 and this Department’s OM No. 45/73 /97-P&PW(G) dated 2.7.1999 as amended from time to time. Where a pensioner is in receipt of more than one pension, the provisions relating to regulation of DR shall remain unchanged.
  • Necessary orders will be issued separately by the Department of Justice in the case of retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts.
  • It will be the responsibility of the Pension Disbursing Authorities including Nationalized Banks etc. to calculate the quantum of DR payable in each individual case.
  • The Offices of the Accountant General and Authorized Pension Disbursing Banks are requested to make payment of Dearness Relief to pensioners/family pensioners on the basis of these instructions without waiting for any further instructions from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and the Reserve Bank of India, the order said. arrange for

  • In so far as the persons serving in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department are concerned. These orders issue in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. This is mandated under Article 148(5) of the Constitution of India.
