Another day, another wave of threat emails hitting institutions. Today, it’s Delhi University. Ramjas College and Deshbandhu College—both received bomb threats via separate emails early this morning.
That happened. And then the security protocols kicked in. Fast.
The police response was immediate. The Ramjas principal alerted authorities at 1:59 am, according to DCP (North) Raja Banthia. Police teams, anti-sabotage squads, Bomb Disposal Teams—everyone rushed to both North and South Delhi campuses.
They cordoned everything off. They swept every classroom, every building, every patch of open ground. This is the new reality after that whole Red Fort mess.
And the result? So far, nothing. No suspicious items were recovered. Zero. But they’re saying verification checks are still ongoing. You can’t stop checking, you know?
The Lingering Context: Red Fort and Bengaluru
This is all happening against a background of high-tension alerts.
-
The Red Fort Blast: We all remember that. November 10. A car laden with explosives detonated. At least 13 people killed. Prime Minister Modi called it a “terror attack.” That happened. And then the crackdown followed, with the NIA arresting suspects tied to the case. It was believed to be a vehicle-borne attack. That event totally spiked the fear level across the capital.
-
The Bengaluru Hoax: Just days ago, Bengaluru cops got a hoax email. This one was aimed at the Kempegowda International Airport and major malls—Orion, Lulu, Forum South, Mantri Square. The sender used a Gmail account, identifying himself as “Mohit Kumar.” The mail straight up warned of coordinated blasts starting at $7\ \text{pm}$. And here’s the kicker: it was signed off as a “Jaish-e-Mohammed white collar terror team.”
The Bengaluru email listed a phone number, too. It demanded a payment, basically saying the attacks could be prevented if they paid up.
Police confirmed that Bengaluru threat was a hoax. But they registered a case. Section 66\text{F} of the Information Technology Act—that’s the one dealing with cyber terrorism. They are still hunting the perpetrator down.
The Delhi colleges alert? It’s part of the same chilling pattern. The quick response shows everyone is jumpy. But for now, no explosives. The panic is real, though.
End…..
