Central government employees are also waiting for a hike in Dearness Allowance ( DA ) and Dearness Relief (DR) dues and Housing Rental Allowance (HRA). Let us tell you that the cost of living allowance given to DA, public sector employees and pensioners is increased twice a year in January and July.

At present, 31 percent dearness allowance is being given to central employees. After the increase of 3 percent in dearness allowance before Holi, the total dearness allowance will increase to 34 percent.

The government’s announcement on the increase in DA will be based on the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission. In 2006, the central government changed the formula for calculating dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners.

68 lakh pensioners will also benefit

If the government takes a decision in this regard today, it will benefit 48 lakh central employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners.

If the central government increases the DA of employees by 3 percent, then this increase will be effective from January 1, 2022. Despite the Kovid-19 epidemic, the central government had increased the DA of central employees from 28 per cent to 31 per cent in October last year.

DA is decided on this basis

Dearness allowance is given on the basis of salary of the employees. Dearness allowance is different for government employees working in urban, semi-urban and rural areas. Dearness Allowance (DA) is calculated on the basic salary. A formula has been fixed for calculating Dearness Allowance, which is determined by the Consumer Price Index.

Let us tell you that Dearness Allowance is given to improve the standard of living and food of the employees. Dearness allowance is given so that even after rising inflation, the employees do not face any problem in living their lives. DM is changed every year in January and July.

It started during the Second World War. At that time it was called Food Dearness Allowance or Dearness Food Allowance. Dearness Allowance was first introduced in India in the year 1972 in Mumbai. After this, the Central Government started giving dearness allowance to all the government employees.
