According to the latest media reports, the proposal of 4 percent dearness allowance hike has been approved in the Modi cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, but formal announcement has not been made yet, it is expected that 4 percent dearness allowance increase after Holi. Can be announced and the Finance Department can issue its order. Its benefit will be given to more than 1 crore employees and pensioners.

In fact, at present 38 per cent DA is being given to central employees, which will increase to 42 per cent after 4 per cent increase. Dearness allowance increases twice a year

Actually, the DA of central employees increases twice a year in January and July, it is calculated on the basis of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) released by Labor Bureau every month. In the December AICPI index data released by the Labor Ministry, where the score had reached 132.3 with a decline of 0.2 points, the number of the index has reached 132.8 with an increase of 0.5 points in January.

In such a situation, there are indications of an increase in dearness allowance by 3 percent in July. This will be the second hike of the year. Although the figures from February to June are yet to come, after that it will be decided that what will be the percentage increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief of employees-pensioners in July 2023.

42% salary calculation

At present, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 1,8000, then according to 38 percent, he gets Rs 6,840 DA. If the DA becomes 42 per cent, the employee will get Rs 7,560 as dearness allowance. That means he will get Rs 720 more. That is, according to the year, there will be a benefit of Rs 8,640. Similarly, if the basic salary of a government employee is Rs 56,000, then dearness allowance at the rate of 38 per cent is Rs 21,280. After a four per cent increase, it will become Rs 23,520. There will be an annual benefit of Rs 26,880.

Decision on DA arrears of 18 months is also possible

In the festive season, a decision can also be taken on the long pending 18 months DA arrears of employees-pensioners. According to media reports, in view of the upcoming elections, after Holi, the Modi government may also consider the outstanding DA arrears from July 2020 to January 2021. If consent is made then arrears ranging from 50 thousand to 2 lakh can be received.

In this, the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554, Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay-Scale Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) and Level-14 (Pay-Scale) Rs 1, Rs 44,200 to Rs 2,18,200 will be paid. Although there is no confirmation or formal announcement from the government yet, these figures are given as an example, these figures may also change.
