New Delhi. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is installing a new modern scanner system at metro stations for in-depth and faster checking of baggage of passengers. This new system has been installed at many stations.
On the rest it will be installed soon. With the new scanner system, where the luggage can be thoroughly checked, it will be easy for the passengers to keep and lift the luggage on it and the time in scanning will also be less.
With the new system, even the smallest things present in the luggage can be seen. According to a report by Financial Express, the conveyor belt of the new system is faster, which allows goods to pass through it faster and takes less time for scanning. Delhi Metro Corporation is implementing the new scanning system at metro stations in a phased manner and soon they will be installed at all the stations.
This is the specialty in it-
Quick Luggage Scanning: The new scanner has the capacity to check 550 bags in an hour. The scanners currently installed at the metro station have the capacity to clear 350 bags in an hour.
The speed of the conveyor belt in the new system is 30 cms per second, while in the old it is 18 cms per second. The faster movement of the conveyor belt will help in decongesting the passengers at the scanner point during peak hours.
More Security: The new system will provide high resolution images and the monitors have also been installed to view them. Due to the large monitor and high resolution images, the scanning of the luggage of the passengers will be done very intensively. The new system will also scan small steel plates like 35mm.
Audio and Video Monitoring: A 360 angle camera will be installed just above the baggage scanner. This camera will capture absolutely clear audio and video from the scanner system. This audio-video footage will come in handy in case of any untoward incident like theft or an argument between the security staff and passengers etc.
