At present, the fitment factor of the employees is 2.57% and for a long time the central employees have been demanding to increase the fitment factor to 3.68%, in such a situation, it is expected that in view of the upcoming elections, the Modi government will increase the fitment factor to 3.00% or 3.68%. One can take a decision on increasing the percentage or can decide a new formula to increase the salary of the employees.

Basic salary will increase

If media reports are to be believed then it is believed that this will increase the basic salary from 18000 to 21000 or 26000 directly. More than 52 lakh employees will get its benefit. The fitment factor can be implemented from 2026. The decision on the same fitment factor can be taken next year in 2024 at the time of formation of the new pay commission, although the official confirmation is yet to be done. Earlier, the central government had increased the fitment factor in 2016 and from the same year the 7th pay commission was also implemented and the minimum salary of the employees went straight from Rs 6000 to Rs 18,000.

How much salary will increase

The fitment factor is considered very important for the salary of the employees, because on this basis the minimum salary of the employees is decided. For example, if the basic salary of a central employee is Rs 18,000, then excluding allowances, his salary will be 18,000 X 2.57 = Rs 46,260. If the fitment factor is 3.68, the salary will be Rs 95,680 (26000 X 3.68 = 95,680) ie Rs 49,420 in salary. With 3 times the fitment factor, the salary will be 21000 X 3 = Rs 63,000. If the fitment factor of the employees is increased, then the basic salary of 15500 can be increased to Rs.39835. 15500*2.57 = Rs 39,835.

Possible increase in house rent allowance

According to media reports, the house rent allowance may also increase by 3 percent if the dearness allowance is increased, after which it will reach 30 percent. Since HRA is determined by the category of that city. Where they work, there are indications of increasing the house allowance by 3%.

How much will the salary increase?

Please tell that there are 3 categories in HRA – X-YZ. Cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs fall in the ‘X’ category. Those with a population of more than 5 lakhs fall in the ‘Y’ category. Cities with a population of less than 5 lakhs fall in the ‘Z’ category. The minimum HRA for all the three categories will be Rs 5400, Rs 3600 and Rs 1800.

There is a possibility of 3 to 4 per cent hike in HRA for employees living or working in X class cities, 2 per cent for Y class cities and 1 per cent for Z class cities. For example if a If the employee’s salary is Rs 56,900 per month, then his HRA is estimated to be around Rs 15,000 at 27%, but at 30%, it is estimated to be Rs 17,000/month and Rs 20,000 annually.
