What is the order of the High Court? 

The 18 DSPs were paid only basic salary by the Punjab government. Apart from this, all the salaries of DSP officers were deducted. Punjab government had decided that any employee who is appointed in Punjab will be paid only basic pay during the period of probation and his service will also be added from the date of regularization. Under this rule only basic pay was paid to 18 DSP level officers. After deduction of allowances and other benefits, the officer approached the High Court. After which the High Court has ordered the Punjab government to release their full salary to them during the probation period.

What is the decision of Punjab government 

Earlier, while filing the petition, Daman Veer Singh and others told in the High Court that the petitioner was appointed as DSP in Punjab Police. During this time it was decided by the Punjab Government that the employees appointed in Punjab will be paid only the basic salary during the period of probation.

After hearing the arguments, the High Court declared the decision of the Punjab Government wrong and rejected it. The High Court said that the employees are entitled to receive full salary and service benefits like other employees from the date of employment.

The High Court’s decision was challenged by the Punjab government in the Supreme Court. The petitioner stated that he was paid only basic salary for 3 years during probation. The rule based on which his salary was cut. It has been rejected by the High Court.

The government’s appeal against this was kept under consideration in the Supreme Court, but since the High Court’s decision was not stayed, orders were issued to pay the deducted salaries to all these DSPs and issue them service benefits from the date of their appointment. given by the court.

With this, employees will now be given the benefit of dearness allowance and other allowances and salary increase. All service benefits will be provided to them from the date of appointment. There will be a big increase in the salary of employees due to dearness allowance, special allowance, increment and other benefits.
