The Lucknow University Teachers Association has announced a protest by the state government for not implementing the High Court’s directive to increase the retirement age of teachers from 62 to 65 years. Along with this, the Lucknow University Teachers’ Association said that the system of issuing salaries to teachers after biometric attendance verification should be abolished.

The resolution has also been passed in the general body meeting. In this matter, the president of the union, Professor Vineet Verma, said that if the High Court’s directive to increase the retirement age is not implemented, the teachers will protest. The president said that we will hold talks and submit a memorandum of our demands. If action is not taken, we will protest. The employees are protesting against linking teachers’ salaries with biometric attendance. This system should be abolished as it is against the dignity of teachers and it is very humiliating for them to do so.

Plan for agitation if demands are not met

LUTA members were threatened that they would plan an agitation if their demands were not met. Also, officials say that the decision to link teachers’ salaries with biometric attendance was taken on the initiative of the governor. Teachers work for at least 6 to 7 hours in their respective departments. In such a situation, basic facilities like clean drinking water and toilets should be made available in all the departments.
