The United Forum says that on March 10, the employees will neither report for duty nor mark their attendance, but protest in front of various state government offices across districts. The March 10 strike will be an extended version of the two-day pen-down strike by state government employees recently.

Employees DA Arrears: On the one hand, Mamta government of West Bengal has increased the dearness allowance of 6th Pay Commission employees by 6 percent and DA of 7th Pay Commission employees by 3 percent, on the other hand regarding the demand for outstanding dearness allowance (DA) Government employees have opened a front against the Mamta Banerjee government of the state. After the sit-in demonstration and work bandh movement, now the United Forum of Government Employees has sent a letter to the state Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi for a complete strike on March 10.

Strike on 10th, no duty-no attendance

Earlier this strike was to be held on March 9 but due to the West Bengal Madrassa Education Board (WBBME) examination on March 9, it has been extended till March 10. The United Forum says that on March 10, the employees will neither report for duty nor mark their attendance, but protest in front of various state government offices across districts. The United Forum says that we know that the state government will issue a notification threatening to stop the service to thwart our strike. But we will continue with our scheduled program ignoring that. We have sent an advance letter to the state government that we will not back down from our strike call until our demand for DA arrears is met. The state government employees will continue their protest on the streets of Kolkata, which has already completed 26 days, of which 12 were intermittent fasting.

Supreme Court hearing on March 15

Here, the hearing on DA dues is to be held in the Supreme Court on March 15, but before that the employees have announced the agitation. The same state government has announced an additional three percent DA for the employees. However, this could not satisfy the agitating employees, who claimed that even after this additional three per cent DA, the gap between state government employees with their counterparts in the central government remains at 36 per cent.
