IMC 2020: Quick policy to bring 300 million 2G customers to smartphone: Mukesh Ambani

India Mobile Congress 2020 has got a great start. Today i.e. 8 December is the first day of IMC 2020. This time the IMC has been conducted virtually due to corona infection. Save that IMC has been organized in India for the last four years. IMC 2020 will run until 10 December 2020.

On the first day of IMC, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani advocated policy intervention to bring 300 million 2G phone customers to smartphones in India. Ambani, while addressing the inaugural session of India Mobile Congress (IMC) on Tuesday, said that this will enable 2G customers to also take advantage of digital changes.
The chairman of Reliance Industries said that India is the most ‘digitally connected’ country in the world today. He said that even today, 30 crore customers in the country are ‘trapped’ in 2G and need policy intervention to bring them into smartphones. Through smartphones, these customers will also be able to do digital transactions.
He said that apart from this, there is a need to fast-track the 5G network in the country. He said that his company Jio will lead the 5G revolution in the country. Ambani said that India can also be developed as a manufacturing hub of SEBIconductor. Ambani said, “We cannot depend on large imports.
