IMD Alert, Today Weather Update, Monsoon 2023: Amidst the scorching heat, the monsoon has arrived in the country. Monsoon rains have started in South India amid scorching heat in many parts including North India. Giving important information on Thursday, the IMD said that the monsoon has entered Kerala. The entry has been seen just a few hours ago. Whereas in the past, it was said in the forecast that in a few hours, the entry of monsoon will be seen in Kerala.

Normal monsoon forecast

This year a forecast of normal monsoon has been issued in the country. Monsoon has been witnessed in the country on 8th June. With this, the monsoon has reached its place after a delay of 7 days. Its normal date was considered to be June 1. Due to the delay of 1 week, the arrival of Monsoon in Orissa is considered to be delayed.

Heavy heatwave warning for 4 days

In the next 48 hours, it will move towards South India Bay of Bengal and North-East India states including Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department has declared the situation favorable for this. However, due to the cyclone Viperjoy forming in the Arabian Sea, the monsoon may have to stay at its place.

Heavy heatwave warning has been issued in many states for 4 days. Apart from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, a heatwave alert has been issued for parts of Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh with severe heat for two to four days. For this, while issuing a yellow alert, an appeal has been made to be careful while leaving the house from 10:00 am to 4:30 am.

Rise in temperature in uttarakhand himachal

Due to non-activation of Western Disturbance, once again the temperature rise has started in Uttarakhand Himachal Pradesh. An increase of one to two percent in temperature is being seen in Uttarakhand Himachal. And the possibility of rain has been ruled out. However, once again the Western Disturbance will be active in North India on June 10. Due to which changes will be seen in the weather of Uttarakhand, Himachal including Jammu Kashmir Leh Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad. Along with this, rain and snowfall will be seen along with a drop of two to three percent in the temperature of these areas.

Update on Southwest Monsoon

Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of south Arabian Sea, some parts of central Arabian Sea, entire Lakshadweep region, most parts of Kerala and most parts of south Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, it may take 2 to 3 hours to proceed further into remaining parts of Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar and some more parts. Cloudy over Southeast Arabian Sea with outgoing long wave radiation during the last 24 hours. The depth of the westerlies over the Arabian Sea extends up to the middle troposphere. In such a situation, the strength of the westerly wind has increased up to 19 knots. After the delay in Monsoon over Kerala, meteorologists have predicted that June 12 will see the onset of Monsoon over Odisha.

Rain in southern states

A red alert has been issued for heavy rains in Kerala from June 8 to 10, in Andaman and Nicobar from June 8 to 10, Lakshadweep from June 9 to 11 and interior Karnataka from June 10 to 12. Orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in Tamil Nadu Rayalaseema. Thunderstorm warnings have been issued.

Rain in eastern states

Red alert for heavy rain has been issued in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh. Thunderstorm warnings have been issued in these areas. The wind will blow at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour. A pre-estimation has also been given regarding landslides.

Temperature will increase in these areas

Here, from Chhattisgarh, East India, Andhra Pradesh to Telangana, the maximum temperature has been recorded at 40 to 42 degree Celsius. An increase of three to five degrees in temperature will be recorded in West Bengal including North East Bihar. Apart from this, an increase of two to three percent in temperature can be recorded in entire North India except Rajasthan. Heatwave alert has been issued in West Bengal, Odisha till June 11.

Weather alert

  • Except for Northeast India, the maximum temperature over Gujarat, Thar Desert, NCR and the eastern part of the subcontinent is likely to exceed 40 degree Celsius.
    The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday that monsoon rains arrived over the Kerala coast a week late than normal, which is the longest delay in the last seven years.
  • Heatwave conditions are likely to engulf isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Rayalaseema.
  • Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Manipur, Mizoram, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Thunderstorm and lightning very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Lakshadweep.
  • Thunderstorm, lightning and gusty wind very likely at isolated places over Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely over some parts of Bihar.
