10 killed in Himachal and Rajasthan

With the onset of monsoon, there have been reports of flash floods, landslides and road closures in various parts of North and West India. In this episode, at least 4 people died due to lightning in Rajasthan on Monday. While 6 people lost their lives due to rain in Himachal Pradesh and hundreds of people were trapped on the National Highway due to landslides. The Meteorological Department said that the monsoon is further advancing in the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The weather remained sultry in Delhi on Monday even as rain lashed parts of the national capital, keeping the temperature under check.

The first monsoon rains in Rajasthan left some areas of the state inundated. During this, four people died due to lightning while many people were injured. Dinesh (21) died after being struck by lightning in Pali district. While two brothers Hariram (46) and Kamal (32) lost their lives in a similar incident at Patpadi in Baran. Apart from this, a 10-year-old girl died due to lightning in Chittorgarh.

Hundreds of commuters were stranded at Aut in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district due to flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains on the Chandigarh-Manali highway. Himachal Pradesh’s Principal Secretary Disaster Management Onkar Chand Sharma said that at least 6 people have died and 10 others have been injured due to landslides and floods triggered by heavy rains at several places in Himachal Pradesh. According to the official, a loss of Rs 3 crore is estimated due to rain.

Heavy rain warning in these states

IMD has issued a warning of light to heavy rains in a total of 25 states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, the states which are expected to receive rain this week include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Jammu Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Goa, Chhattisgarh. , Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Kerala, Tripura, Mizoram and Maharashtra. IMD has predicted heavy rains in 8 districts of Madhya Pradesh during 24 hours. At the same time, orange alert has been issued for rain in 6 districts of Chhattisgarh and Delhi.
