New Delhi: During a virtual event organized by Indian Industry Parsingh, Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that India will produce 100 crore mobile phones and 50 million laptops in the next five years. With this, the country aims to manufacture more number of IT devices including TVs and tablets. He also said that the digital economy will reach $ 1,000 billion in the next five years, saying the country. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that 4G is currently being worked on in the country and 5G testing will be started soon. Prasad said that this is our vision of electronics manufacturing for the next five years and we want the digital economy of the country to reach $ 1,000 billion in the coming five years. According to the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), policy intervention will allow India to expand its laptop and tablet manufacturing capacity to $ 100 billion by 2025.

The ICEA report states that manufacturing of IT equipment in the country can take its share of the global market from the current 1 percent to 26 percent. In addition, the creation of digital devices will generate five million jobs and will lead to an inflow of foreign exchange of $ 75 billion and an investment of over $ 1 billion by 2025.
