A letter was issued to all the zones and production units in this regard on Tuesday on behalf of Jai Kumar, Deputy Director (Pay Commission-VII and HMMS), Railway Board. 

It was said in this letter that the Dearness Allowance payable to railway employees will be increased from the existing rate of 31% of basic pay to 34% with effect from January 1, 2022.

After the government’s decision to increase the Dearness Allowance of Central employees from 31 percent to 34 percent, the Ministry of Railways.(Ministry of Railways)has also given instructions to all its zones to pay allowances.

According to the order issued by the ministry, dearness allowance will be given with the effective revised rates. This decision of the Railways will directly benefit about 14 lakh employees and pensioners. It will be paid by the end of this month.

A letter was issued to all the zones and production units in this regard on Tuesday on behalf of Jai Kumar, Deputy Director (Pay Commission-VII and HMMS), Railway Board.

It was said in this letter that the Dearness Allowance payable to railway employees will be increased from the existing rate of 31% of basic pay to 34% with effect from January 1, 2022.

The letter further said that as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission accepted by the government, the word basic pay in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the pay matrix.

It does not include any other type of salary like special pay etc. Dearness Allowance will remain a specific element of remuneration.

The Deputy Director of Railway Board said in the letter that the arrears of Dearness Allowance will not be paid before the date of disbursement of salaries of March, 2022.

Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary, All India Railway Federation said in a conversation with News 18 Hindi (Digital) that after getting the copy of the order to all the concerned units,

the payment of Dearness Allowance will be increased from the existing rate of 31% of the basic pay with effect from January 1, 2022. at an increased rate of 34%. He said that on April 30, Dearness Allowance will be paid along with arrears.
