Fuel charge was imposed in October 2023

After the increase in air fuel prices, Indigo had decided to impose fuel charges on domestic and international routes ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 in October 2023. Government oil marketing companies had decided to reduce the prices of air fuel by 4 percent from January 1, 2024, after which Indigo has withdrawn the decision to impose fuel charge.

Airlines spend 40% of their costs on air fuel.

Air fuel accounts for 40 percent of the operating costs of airlines. After the rise in the prices of air fuel, the cost of airlines increases and after which they have to pass the burden on the customers. But after the decline in crude oil prices, while reviewing the prices of air fuel for three consecutive months in November, December and January, the oil companies have reduced the prices, due to which Indigo has decided to remove the fuel charge.
