This advisory states that critical security flaws have been found in many Apple devices which have been placed in the ‘High Severity’ category. Through these bugs, cyber attackers can steal your sensitive information, crash the system, bypass security features or take complete control of the device.
Which devices and versions are at risk?
According to a CERT-In report (CIVN-2025-0163), these dangerous bugs may affect the following Apple software versions:
- iPhones: Versions prior to iOS 18.6
- iPads: before iPadOS 17.7.9 and 18.6
- MacBooks: macOS Sequoia (before 15.6), Sonoma (before 14.7.7), Ventura (before 13.7.7)
- Apple Watch: Before watchOS 11.6
- Apple TV: Prior to tvOS 18.6
- Vision Pro: prior to visionOS 2.6
The root causes of these bugs include memory handling mistakes, logic errors, and privilege management flaws.
What are the risks?
If these bugs are exploited, users may be exposed to the following risks:
- Access or hacking of private and sensitive data
- Remotely execute malware or code
- Bypassing Security Features
- System crash or Denial of Service (DoS) attack on the device
- Loss of control over the entire device or loss of data and identity
- All this together can pose a serious threat to your digital life and personal information.
How to stay safe?
Apple has released OTA (Over-The-Air) updates to fix these security flaws. So all iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple devices users should update their devices immediately.
How to update: Go to Settings > General > Software Update, install any available updates, and restart your device.
