IRCTC Food: IRCTC has warned that the vendors will have to stop the overcharging practice immediately, if this practice does not stop then the A la Carte system can be stopped.

IRCTC Food: If you travel by railway and buy food and drink during the journey, then you would know that you often have to pay increased prices of things in the train. IRCTC, which provides catering facilities for Indian Railways, maintains a standard rate on food items, but despite this, passengers are troubled by overcharging by IRCTC vendors. In view of such complaints, Zee Business had made a detailed coverage report on it, after which IRCTC has shown strictness. The corporation has issued an order that the vendors should not sell food by adding a separate rate along with the food. IRCTC has written a letter to all the GGMs regarding this and has asked for a report by May 5 giving instructions for immediate action.

There will be surprise inspection in trains

IRCTC has warned that the vendors will have to stop this practice immediately, if this practice is not stopped then the A la Carte system can be stopped. Now, to prevent them, there will be surprise inspection in small groups in trains on crowded routes. For this, IRCTC has selected trains on 10 routes. Apart from this, IRCTC has managers in premium trains, now supervisors will be kept in some important trains as well. Railway Ministry is also considering taking some steps in this direction. Seeing that people do not face any problem while traveling on holidays, the Ministry is ready to crack down on such unreasonable recovery.

New rules will be seen on food and water rates

Even now, rate cards will be placed in the coaches at easily visible places. The supply staff will also have the link. You can avoid overpricing even by asking for the bill. Can also complain for quality, quantity. Whereas water i.e. RailNeer is mandatory at big stations. There is more than 65% supply of re consumption, IRCTC is setting up 4 new plants to increase the supply soon. Apart from this, only water approved by the Railway Board will be allowed to be sold at stations and in trains.

Vendors do overcharging

In the train journey, these vendors are charging Rs. 120 to Rs. 130 from the people for the veg thali which is available for Rs. 80. People are being charged extra by adding paneer to the standard menu available in the train. At the same time, people are asked for more money even after adding paneer instead of curd in the menu. These vendors do not tell the exact price of the food to the people even after asking the passengers.

What steps is IRCTC taking against the vendors?

IRCTC has come into action taking cognizance of the matter and the matter is being investigated. IRCTC has started sending notices to vendors after these complaints. IRCTC told that on receipt of the complaint for the first time, a notice will be issued to the vendors as a warning. If the vendors still do not improve and further complaints are received against them, action will be taken against them. In such a situation, from the imposition of financial fine on the vendors to the cancellation of the license.
