Jio Fiber users can now make video calls from their TVs without the need for an external camera or webcam. The new service, named ‘Camera on Mobile’, is available for Android and iOS devices through the JioJoin app (formerly known as JioCall). It allows users to make their phone’s camera an input device for video calls. It enables video-calling through JioFiberVoice which is bundled with Jio Fiber service to provide calling support to broadband users.
Customers can also use the JioJoin app on their mobile devices to make voice calls using their landline numbers. The ‘Camera on Mobile’ feature has been under testing for the past few months, although it has now been rolled out for both Android and iOS users.

To initiate a video call on your TV using your mobile device’s camera, you must first configure your 10 digit Jio Fiber number on the JioJoin app. This will allow the app to virtually make your phone as a companion device to your Jio Fiber connection. Once you do the configuration, you can enable the ‘Camera on Mobile’ service from the JioJoin app settings. You are now ready to use your phone as a webcam to make video calls through your TV.
Jio Fiber advises users to switch to the 5GHz Wi-Fi band on their modem to get better quality in video calls. However, you can experience this feature on the 2.4GHz band as well – but perhaps with some lag. The JioJoin app is available for download through the App Store and Google Play. This requires a device running at least Android 6.0 or iOS 10.0.
