LPG cylinder rates will be so low, government gave good news

There is good news for LPG consumers. They may get relief from inflation during the election season. The government may increase the subsidy for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Let us know about it in detail.

General elections are to be held in the country next year. Gas consumers can get benefit from this. The government is considering increasing the subsidy for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This will benefit 9.5 crore families. At present, the beneficiaries of this scheme are being given a subsidy of Rs 300 on each cylinder.

In September, the government had reduced the cylinder price by Rs 200 for all consumers. An additional subsidy of Rs 100 was announced to PMUY beneficiaries in October. In Delhi, general consumers are getting the cylinder for Rs 903 while for PMUY beneficiaries its price is Rs 603.

In a report quoting sources, it has been claimed that the government can provide relief to consumers using cooking gas by increasing the subsidy under PMUY. A source said that the number of beneficiaries under PMUY has increased but there is a need to provide more relief to the customers. Steps can be taken in this regard in the coming months.

This is being done to reduce the burden of inflation on the common man. Retail inflation has remained at a persistently high level in recent months. Inflation based on consumer prices stood at 5.02% in September.

Price of petrol and diesel did not change

Oil and gas prices have increased in recent times due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The government has taken several steps in recent months to protect PMUY beneficiaries from inflation. This scheme was started in the year 2016. Its objective was to provide clean cooking fuel to poor families.

In September, the government had announced an additional budget of Rs 1,650 crore to provide 75 lakh free gas connections. The price of petrol and diesel has not changed in the country since May last year.
