This decision was taken because railway links are important. There are important areas of Western UP and Haryana around it. On July 3, Railway Board Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti emphasized that connecting NIA to the railway network will not only benefit passenger and cargo transportation but will also lead to profitable railway investment.

In July this year, the state government had proposed the idea of connecting NIA with two lines. One case is of Chola railway station in Bulandshahr, which is on the Kolkata-Amritsar eastern freight corridor. On the western side, there was a proposal to connect the airport with Palwal railway station in Haryana, which is on the Delhi-Mumbai line.

North Central Railway is planning to add a new station near the airport at Jewar and connect it with the railway corridor at Palwal with a 28 km rail link. From Jewar, this line will go to Khurja railway station and Delehi-Howrah railway line, about 33 km away.

The second 20 km line will connect the proposed Jewar station to Chola on the Delhi-Howrah station. Its objective is to improve connectivity with the proposed multimodal cargo hub near NIA.

Passengers will get convenience

An official said, ‘With the development of the airport, the UP government hopes to increase logistics, warehousing and other industrial and commercial activities in the area. Additionally, the increased connectivity will greatly benefit passengers and cargo traveling to and from the airport.

Earlier on Monday, the state government had also approved the 72 km rapid corridor from Ghaziabad to NIA via Greater, Noida West and Pari Chowk.
