Old Pension Scheme: In a significant move, the Central Government has directed all the State Governments to give one time option to the All India Service Personnel who joined the vacancy advertised before the notification for implementation of the National Pension Scheme. Were. i.e. 22 December 2003, and those who are covered under NPS on joining Government service on or after 1 January 2004, will be covered under the provisions of the old pension scheme.

Employees can take advantage of lump sum option

It has been said that interested employees can avail this one-time option till 30 November. Orders will be issued to eligible employees to avail the old pension scheme by January 31, 2024 and thereafter their NPS accounts will be closed by March 31, 2024.

This information is given in the letter

In a letter dated July 13 to the chief secretaries of all states and union territories, the Department of Personnel and Training said, “AIS officers, who are appointed against a post or vacancy, which was earlier advertised or notified for recruitment Was. The date of notification of NPS (i.e. 22nd December, 2003) and those who are covered under NPS on joining service on or after 1st January, 2004 shall be governed by the provisions of the AIS (All India Service) (DCRB) Rules, 1958. One time option can be given to cover under.

The letter also states that members of AIS selected through Civil Services Examination, 2003, Civil Services Examination, 2004 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2003 are eligible to be covered under these provisions.

These members will also be eligible for lump sum option

The letter also states that the members of the service, who were selected in the Central Government service before joining the All India Service, who are covered under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 (now 2021) or any other similar rule was done, also the D/o P&PW O.M. March 3, 2003 and are eligible to be given lump sum option to be covered under the provisions of the Old Pension Scheme under the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.

The option will be placed before the state government

The letter states that it is clarified that mobility from one service to another is subject to continuous service and technical resignation. It also states that the option exercised by the members of the service in accordance with these instructions shall be placed before the Government of the State in whose cadre the member of the service belongs.

It also states that if the member of service fulfills the conditions of coverage under AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958 as per these instructions, necessary orders in this regard will be issued by January 31, 2024.

Consequently, the NPS account of such member of service will be closed with effect from March 31, 2024. Members of the Service who opt for the Old Pension Scheme under the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958 will be required to subscribe to the General Provident Fund (GPF).

Old pension has been implemented in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh

The Congress governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh have already announced to implement the old pension scheme in the state. The Congress has also made OPS an important issue for the Karnataka assembly elections and has announced to implement it in Madhya Pradesh as well if it comes to power.
