It was being speculated that Rs 17,000 crore of funds deposited in the PFRDA could be used by the state government to repay the old pension scheme. However, getting money from PFRDA by the state government will be a big challenge.

Which was rejected outright by PFRDA.

This decision will benefit more than 175,000 government employees. 1 month ago in the cabinet meeting it was decided by the Punjab government to roll out the scheme for its employees. If Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema is to be believed, the employees will be given the option to opt for the old pension scheme.

Punjab became the fourth state to implement OPS
With the implementation of the old pension scheme in the state, Punjab has become the fourth state to implement it. After Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand, now it has been implemented in Punjab. Along with this, on the retirement of the employee who came in government service after 2004, he will be given the benefit of 50 percent pension on his last basic salary.
