OnePlus 8 Pro Review: This smartphone has been in the news for many reasons. After using it for a long time, we will tell in this review what its merits are and what are the deficiencies.

OnePlus 8 Pro was launched in India in mid-April. It has been two months and how this smartphone is performing so far, tells you in this long term review.

Talk about design and build quality, the design of the phone is not such a revolutionary. But the build quality is solid, the look is good and the rear panel looks super premium.

This phone is not slippery, nor is there a fingerprint magnet in the rear. The best thing is that the screen of the phone is big, but still it looks compact. Metal has been used more in the phone and you will be able to feel it only by using it.

The center has a vertical camera module and an LED flash light next to it. Talking about the front, you get an all display here. There is no visible bezels on the side, the top and bottom have very thin bezels. The phone is curved from the front and rear so there is no problem in using the phone with one hand.

The display

OnePlus 8 Pro has a large 6.78 inch display. It is an AMOLED panel and it is Quad HD +. Talking about the refresh rate, it also has an option of 120Hz refresh rate.

At first glance, you will like its display. The display is bright and colorful. After enabling the 120Hz refresh rate, it would have become even better and the way the company has said ‘Fluid’ AMOLED seems to be true.

You can select one from the display mode. You can select Vibrant Color Effect Pro or Motion Graphics Smoothing to test the display’s full potential. QuadHD consumes more battery, so you have to enable it from the display settings.

Here you will find work features such as night mode, reading mode to ambient display. If you want to use the phone like a Kindle, then you can enable reading mode.

The display has the support of HDR10 +, meaning that you can view the content of the OTT platform which supports these standards comfortably. Our experience from gaming to watching series in this smartphone has been fantastic. Its display performs well even in outdoor or sunlight and the viewing angle is also tremendous.

You can use it in auto brightness or mid level brightness most of the time. Dark mode is my favorite. Dark mode looks even better on the AMOLED display. Always on display option too which is good.

Performance

OnePlus 8 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It has also used 5G modem, but since there is no 5G in India, so it is not used.

The variant we have reviewed has 128GB of storage with 8GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 10 and soon Android 11 based Oxygen OS will be given in it.

The performance of the phone is the flagship level only. Even after using a lot of time, we did not feel any lag in it. Screen freeze or hang problem also has not come in this phone. I played COD Mobile and PUBG Mobile in it. Tried filling the settings of both. The gaming experience has been great.

The phone is fast and smooth. There is no problem in switching from one app to another. At the time of phone setup or later you can select the option of gestures or keys.

However, after some time of continuous gaming, this phone heats up. The audio quality of the phone is decent. You will not miss anything if you are gaming without headphones. We also found its speaker powerful.

One major feature of One Plus smartphones is the Oxygen OS given in it. It is clean and solid compared to other Chinese smartphone makers. Stock resembles Android. If you have used One Plus before, then you will know about its useful features.

Overall OnePlus 8 Pro’s performance meets the company’s claims and at the same time it has also met our expectations.

The camera

With the launch of OnePlus 8 Pro, the company also made big claims regarding the cameras given in this smartphone. There are four rear cameras in this smartphone. There is a 48 megapixel primary lens. The second lens is also 48 megapixels, which is ultra wide. There is an 8 megapixel telephoto lens, while there is a 5 megapixel color filter.

There was a lot of discussion about the color filter and once it happened that the picture was clicked across the fabric with its color filter. However, the company fixed it by giving an update.

Talk about camera performance, it will not disappoint you. But you will not be surprised by your photography. It can definitely be called a better upgrade than the old phone of OnePlus.

OnePlue 8 Pro’s camera captures good and detailed photos in both daylight and low light conditions. The 48 megapixel ultra wide angle lens is worth capturing in a single frame. Talking about macro lenses, it is also excellent in this. If the lighting is correct from very close to the object, then you can enable macro and capture great close ups.

The camera module has a dedicated telephoto lens, so that you can click good pictures in 3x hybrid zoom. You can also do professional level photography with this camera in daylight or good light. But it has a camera average in low light.

Talking about video recording, now many smartphones are coming to the market with stabilization. It is definitely faded compared to them. But if not more stabilizing means videos are recorded in good quality and to some extent they are also stable.

There are many features in the camera interface that are useful. There are also options to apply filters. There is also a pro mode and for night photography it also has a nightscape feature.

Overall OnePlus 8 Pro camera also meets the front and justifies its price.

battery backup

OnePlus 8 Pro has a 4,510mAh battery. Normally, smartphones in this segment give a full day of backup in mixed use. It is the same with this. Battery backup is not very special and can be called an average. If you do not use heavy, do not do much gaming, then you can run it all day.

The good thing is that with this Warp Charge 30T fast charging has been supported. Wireless charging is also supported, but wired charging is much faster.

This smartphone meets this price in almost every department. If there is no issue of heating during battery, night photography and gaming, then this smartphone is near perfect.
