UPI Apps: If you get your mobile recharge done through Paytm, then it is no longer free. You will have to pay some platform charge.  

Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe apps are widely used in India. These are the major UPI apps of the country. Through these apps, people make all types of payments like rent, bill payment, gas, flight, insurance, mobile recharge etc.

Meanwhile, an update related to UPI app Paytm and Google Pay is coming out. If you recharge your mobile through these apps, you will now have to pay platform fees. That means apart from the mobile recharge amount, you will have to pay some more money.

Many users on social media have shared the screenshot of the platform fees being charged while recharging from Paytm. When we checked personally, the company is charging different platforms according to the recharge pack. This charge ranges from Rs 1 to Rs 5 and 6 depending on the payment. If you recharge Rs 2,999 on Airtel for a year, then the company will charge you a platform fee of Rs 5.

According to a report by Gadgets 360, Google Pay has also started charging convenience fees. The company is charging Rs 3 platform fee on the Rs 749 plan. If you are wondering why the companies are charging these charges, then actually the companies are charging you fees in return for the service of the UPI app.

Phonepe already charges fees on mobile recharge

Google Pay and Paytm have also started following the path of phone pay and now these two companies are also charging platform fees. Actually, PhonePe has been charging platform fees on mobile recharge for a long time. Till now, users preferred to recharge through Google Pay and Paytm instead of Phone Pay, but now these apps have also started charging platform fee.

Note, currently Google Pay and Paytm are charging platform fee only on mobile recharge. Other types of bill payments will remain free for now. It is possible that the company may charge some additional charges for these in the future.
