According to the report of Moneycontrol , more than 500 long distance trains

, to reduce the pressure of transportation of coal, railways has canceled 670 trains till May 24. These have more than 500 long distance mail and express trains. Railways has promised to run 415 freight trains daily for the transportation of coal. Till Thursday, 405 goods trains had been deployed for the transportation of coal. Each freight train can carry 3,500 tonnes of coal.

Steps taken to avert power crisis

The report quoted officials as saying that to maintain sufficient stock of coal in power plants, more transportation than normal may continue for the next two months. With this, the power crisis in July-August will also be avoided.

Due to the rains in July-August, the work of extracting coal from the mines gets reduced. That is, the process of cancellation of trains can continue even further.

Let us tell you that coal is used in 70 percent of the country’s electricity generation. According to officials, the demand for coal has increased manifold this year due to the huge increase in the demand for electricity.
