CM announces increase in salary in Vidhansabha
On Thursday, CM Mamata Banerjee said in the Assembly that no revision has been made in my salary, because I have not been taking any kind of salary for a long time, but the salary of the MLAs of the state is much less as compared to other states. The state government has decided that their salary will be increased by Rs 40 thousand per month.
Similarly, the monthly salary of cabinet ministers and ministers of state has been increased from Rs 10,900 to Rs 50,900. Apart from the monthly salary, other additional allowances which Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and MLAs are entitled to receive will remain the same.
Now who will get how much salary and allowances?
Actually, till now MLAs in West Bengal used to get Rs 10,000, State Ministers Rs 10,900 and Ministers in charge Rs 11,000, but after this announcement of CM and the new amendment in salary, now they will get Rs 50,000, 50,900 and 51,000 per month.
This would mean that after the state government’s decision, the actual monthly pay to MLAs, including salary and allowances, will now increase to Rs 1.21 lakh from the current rate of Rs 81,000 per month. The actual monthly pay to ministers will be Rs 1.10 lakh per month. This will increase to approximately Rs 1.50 lakh per month.
