At the same time, the government fact checker PIB has asked SBI customers to be alert from such messages. A #Fake message issued in the name of SBI is asking customers to update their PAN number to avoid closure of their account. PIB said never to respond to emails/SMS asking to share your personal or banking information.

Along with this, it has also been said from PIB that SBI or any other bank does not ask for any personal information related to your bank. In such a situation, if any bank tries to take information from you in any way, then be alert.

What should SBI customers do if they receive a fake message?
If you are also asked for a similar fake message or a fake message in any other way, then you should complain about it immediately. The government official fact checker said that customers can call the helpline number 1930 at phishing@sbi.co.in to complain about the fake message and also know its veracity.

It is worth noting that according to a data of RBI, during the financial year 2021-22, bank customers suffered a loss of Rs 179 due to fraud. At the same time, in 2020-21, the total fraud amount was Rs 216 crore.
