The 6 AM reading? AQI hit 397. CPCB said it. Firmly in the ‘very poor’ zone, obviously. Pushed there by low wind speed, that happened. And then the cold temperatures followed, trapping all that smog right over the capital. Seriously dangerous, or nothing.

HALF THE CITY IS ‘SEVERE’: AQI OVER 400!
Out of 39 monitoring stations, 20 of them? They’re past the 400-mark. That’s the ‘severe’ zone, let’s be real. The other 19 are hovering in the ‘very poor’ range (300-400).
The air has been like this for 18 continuous days. No clean break. It’s an ongoing situation.

Just jotting down the worst numbers I saw:

Vivek Vihar / Rohini: 458. The absolute highest.

Wazirpur (448) and DTU (444). Those too.
THE KICKER: CHILLI SPRAY PROTEST DRAMA!
The air crisis frustration? It spilled onto the streets. Protesters demanded action. The cops tried to remove them, nahin. And then the chilli spray incident followed. Protesters used that on the police personnel. Unprecedented, the officers said. Three to four cops injured; taken to RML Hospital. Legal action is being taken. Total chaos near India Gate, apparently.

This entire mess—it started after Diwali, with farm fires and the onset of winter. The pollution just refuses to budge. It’s staying put.
