Kerala: The Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led government in Kerala has announced Onam bonus to state government employees. The government will give a bonus of Rs 4000 to the employees in view of the upcoming Onam festival. The government has taken this decision despite the financial crisis. State Finance Minister KN Balagopal said in a statement on Monday that government employees who are not eligible for bonus will be given a special festival allowance of Rs 2,750.

13 lakh employees and workers will be benefited

N Balagopal said that the special assistance and benefits would benefit 13 lakh employees and workers of the state. A festive allowance of Rs 1,000 will be given to retired employees under service pensioners and contributory pension schemes. Balagopal said that the state government employees would be able to take a festive advance of Rs 20,000 on their salary. On the other hand, temporary employees will be able to take salary advance of Rs 6,000. According to the statement, all categories of employees, including contract-scheme workers, who got incentives last year, will get bonus at the same rate this year.
