Supreme Court Decision. The Supreme Court has once again given a historic verdict. The court has given a big relief to 32 former women Air Force officers. The court has ordered full pension to these women officers. This full pension is equal to the officers who have served for 20 years.

This major decision was pronounced by a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices Hima Kohli and JB Pardiwala on Wednesday. The Supreme Court has given pensionary benefits to 32 ex-women Air Force officers at par with Permanent Commission officers. These women officers were released from service between 2006 and 2009, they were demanding extension of their service at that time. The court said in its order that they cannot be reinstated but can be given one-time pension benefits .

The Supreme Court held that 32 women Short Service Commission officers of the Indian Air Force, who did not challenge in court their non-consideration for permanent commission during their tenure, cannot be reinstated. This woman officer, who was retired without permanent commission status even after 15 years of service, will now get the same pension as officers who have served for 20 years.

Will get justice after 12 years
Let us inform that all these women officers had joined the Indian Air Force between 1994 and 1998 as per the IAF circular of 1991, it was said in the circular that they would be considered for permanent commission on completion of 5 years of service, but their service was increased by only 6 years. After this, in 2010, an appeal was filed in the Delhi High Court by the former woman SSCO of the Indian Air Force, now the Supreme Court has given this relief to these officers after a legal battle of 12 years.
